Your 28-Day Total Health Plan - Day 14

Day 14: The World is How You See It

A couple of years ago, on the way to church for the Christmas Day service, I happened to switch on the radio and two deejays were chatting about Christmas and gratitude. One of them mentioned how one statement he heard from an otherwise insignificant anime stayed with him, “The world is how you see it.”

How true. If you think the world is a nasty place, so it is. If you think your neighbours suck, so they do. If you think your co-workers and bosses are mean, so they are. It’s your choice how you want to see your world.

You don't have to wait till Christmas to repair relationships. If you're holding a grudge against a friend or family member, take the first step toward making amends - whether that means feeling compassion for that person despite what happened, or picking up the phone to send some good wishes through.

Today's Recipe

If you have leftover chicken or turkey, here is a recipe that is simple to prepare yet yummy.

INGREDIENTS
1/5 green pepper, cut in strips
1/5 red pepper, cut in strips
1/6 onion, cut in slices
1/5 cup enoki mushrooms
3 teaspoons teriyaki sauce
½ chicken breast, cut in big strips
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 tortilla wrap
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil

DIRECTIONS
Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat, add in the garlic. Fry the chicken. When the chicken is half cooked, add in the vegetables. Add in the teriyaki sauce and simmer until chicken is cooked.
(If you are using leftover chicken or turkey, just fry for a shorter time to reheat, before adding the vegetables.)

Top mixture with sesame seeds and wrap in tortilla.

Today's Exercise

Today, double up with both the Core Series and the Arm Toners. Shift your main focus from walking to running today: Warm up with a five-minute walk, then try to jog for 20 continuous minutes.
